SUPPORT FOR ECOLOGICAL AGRICULTURE

Through practices that ensure the continuity of our raw material supply process, we protect the soil, reduce the harmful environmental impacts of agriculture, and support sustainable farming practices. We take care of every piece extracted from the soil — the raw material of our products — as if it were our own, working in conscious cooperation with our farmers from the field to the production process to guarantee the quality of our raw materials.

As part of our responsibility towards society, the environment, and our consumers, we keep all raw materials and components used in our production under inspection and regularly conduct laboratory analyses.

LOW-CARBON TECHNOLOGIES IN OUR FACTORIES

In our production facilities, we aim to achieve a net zero carbon footprint by 2030 and become a certified zero-waste organization. To achieve this goal, we invest in energy efficiency projects in our production plants and buildings, while also evaluating renewable energy supply and installation opportunities to use in our operations.

By enlarging the windows in our factories, warehouses, and offices, we maximize natural daylight usage and keep electricity consumption at a minimum level.

Additionally, within the scope of our 2022 greenhouse gas reduction efforts, we sourced our electricity needs from renewable energy resources and replaced our lighting equipment with eco-friendly alternatives that provide more light while consuming less energy, thus reducing our carbon footprint by nearly 38% compared to the previous year.

RECYCLABLE PACKAGING

To minimize the environmental impact caused by our product packaging, we work on reducing packaging quantities, increasing reuse, and enhancing recyclability.

Since 2020, we have also replaced the standard materials used in our shipping boxes and packaging with higher-quality, eco-friendly alternatives made from recyclable packaging materials.

PACKAGING REDUCTION

We focus on reducing resource consumption and increasing the use of recyclable materials in our packaging processes. We design the volume and weight of our packaging to generate minimal waste while supporting reuse and recycling initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of packaging.

Instead of using thick and bulky packaging, we have adopted more innovative and economical packaging styles that maintain our quality and ensure the safe transport of our products.

COMBATING PLASTIC

We pay close attention to avoiding the use of plastic in our products and consumption habits.

By continuing to focus on reducing resource consumption and increasing the use of recyclable materials in packaging processes, we accelerate our R&D efforts to strengthen our fight against plastic.

We have banned the use of plastic bags in our factories and offices, opting instead for environmentally friendly and recyclable bags and carrying materials.

GREEN LOGISTICS

Through route optimization and efficient fuel transportation practices, we reduce our environmental impact while collaborating with our logistics suppliers.

To minimize greenhouse gas emissions from transport and logistics processes, we work with our partners in the distribution and logistics sectors to evaluate clean technology transportation options.

As of 2022, within the scope of our emission reduction project, we decided to consolidate international orders and only carry out shipments above a certain volume.

With this decision, we successfully reduced our carbon footprint from logistics by at least 30%.

GREEN OFFICE PRACTICES

We separate waste and paper in our factories, warehouses, and offices for recycling, while encouraging our distributor partners to sort their waste and dispose of it through zero-waste equipment. We monitor our consumption of electricity, natural gas, water, and paper through monthly reports, tracking both by consumption type and CO2-e equivalent, and implement measures to keep usage at a minimum.

Our headquarters building is designed with eco-friendly principles, and across all our offices and factories we have renewed appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerators, and dishwashers with energy-efficient AA Plus and Prosmart Inverter Compressor products, ensuring energy savings.

By monitoring hourly consumption through our air conditioning energy analyzer system and taking corrective action when necessary, we reduce consumption and our carbon footprint.

We also provide regular internal training for our employees on their consumption habits and their environmental impacts, focusing on green consumption.

We continue to raise awareness and expand opportunities for women’s empowerment to ensure that gender equality is embraced by all Kiraz Holding employees and business partners.

For this reason, 80% of our employees at our Istanbul headquarters and 64% of our production facility employees are proud, valuable women.
